Aldis Extends its Cleantech Advantage Traffic Signal Program to Small Towns

Knoxville, TN, April 20, 2007 – Aldis Inc. (”Aldis”), a Cleantech company delivering efficient traffic technology and services that reduce total cost of ownership has expanded its Advantage(TM) program to communities with as few as a single traffic intersection. A number of rural communities have immediately begun the Aldis upgrade process.

Upgrading traffic signals from legacy incandescent heads to light emitting diode (LED) based heads reduces energy usage and expense by up to 90%. In an average area using coal powered electricity, the conversion to an LED based signals will reduce annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 1,700 pounds per traffic signal. CO2 is a greenhouse gas and significant contributor to Global warming.

Communities typically cite capital expense as the reason for not converting to LED based signals. The Aldis Advantage(TM) program allows these communities to immediately upgrade within their own unique budget situation. “Global warming is a serious issue that needs to be addressed today. Aldis is committed to helping all communities regardless of size, to use energy resources more efficiently, reduce their expenses and be part of the global solution,” said Vig Sherrill, CEO of the Aldis Group.
